What do you do as a Senior Electrical Project Manager in onshore transmission?
“I work as a Senior Electrical Project Manager in the onshore transmission for floating offshore wind projects. I am involved in Italian projects that we are developing with COP, and I took on the manager role for the onshore transmission team of Blue Power Partners Offshore a couple of months ago. In addition to my project-related responsibilities, I now have a people role that focuses on managing people. This role provides me with a comprehensive understanding of the ongoing projects, along with the responsibility for personnel management, including training, compensation, performance reviews, and project allocation.”
What is the best thing about being a Senior Electrical Project Manager in onshore transmission?
“The project part of my role is very rewarding because it directly involves being innovative and instrumental within the green transition, overseeing the design of the onshore transmission facilities and the connection to the grid of large-scale offshore wind farms. In the manager part of my role, I directly interact with people, looking after their work, what they are doing, how they feel, and what they would like to do. This aspect of the role is particularly interesting, as it offers insights into the company’s management strategies and future direction.
What is a good leader in your opinion?
“It is essential to listen to people and their needs while striving to align them with the company’s objectives. This entails the skills to facilitate effective communication, given that most work is remote. Maintaining an approachable disposition, even when communication is conducted virtually, is crucial. This includes having trust in your people. A good leader is approachable and flexible, regardless of whether they are physically present or working remotely.”
What makes you feel proud in your job?
“One aspect that gives me pride is the commitment to environmental responsibility in the renewable sector – personally contributing to the green transition by building, engineering, or developing offshore wind farms capable of powering thousands of households. Additionally, becoming a father has become an even more significant personal achievement for me. I feel a responsibility to leave the world in a better state for the next generation, and that is what brings me the greatest pride.”
